Kumara holds a Master’s degree in Data Science and Analytics. As the Open Data and IT Director at Youthful Cities, he leads a team of professionals developing innovative products and applications that leverage open data to empower young people and promote inclusivity in urban environments.

He is also a Research Assistant at TMU, where he applies robust machine learning techniques to enhance the performance and accuracy of models in various domains, including natural language processing, computer vision, and recommender systems.

Additionally, Kumara is an Azure Consultant at Beam Data, where he designs and builds cloud data solutions to address business challenges and optimize data workflows. He is also a part-time instructor at WeCloudData, teaching Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Big Data, and Machine Learning.

With over 14 years of experience in the IT industry, Kumara has worked on projects in government, banking, education, advertising, and manufacturing sectors. He also has 9 years of experience mentoring and coaching others on both technical and non-technical topics.

Kumara has over 8 years of experience in data science and analytics and holds several professional cloud certifications, including Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Azure DevOps Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, and AWS Certified Security Specialty. Passionate about solving complex problems with data and technology, Kumara is always eager to learn new skills and share his knowledge with aspiring data enthusiasts.
